Product Details:

This is a PCGS graded coin. You will receive the coin pictured. You are purchasing an 1873 Seated Liberty Half Dollar graded MS-65 by PCGS. A very elusive type coin to find in full Gem grades, and this one is exceptional. Both sides of this vibrant-white, satiny Gem display excellent striking qualities throughout and only the most inconsequential signs of contact are found in the right field with the aid of magnification. Gem examples from this first year of the brief Arrows type are even more elusive than their second year counterparts. This is an excellent coin to add to your collection.

Coin Features:
  • PCGS graded MS 65
  • Two Year Type Coin
  • Lustrous, Stone-White Gem
  • Known as a Seated Liberty Half Dollar
  • Obverse: Liberty Seated with a Heraldic Shield and Staff
  • Reverse: Forward Facing Heraldic Eagle with Arrows and an Olive Branch

Seated Half Dollar with Arrows (1873-1874) - After the motto IN GOD WE TRUST was added to the half and quarter dollar, the weight was changed and the overall weight went from 12.44 up to 12.50. For the second time in the series run, the weight change was designated on the coin with arrows placed on either side of the obverse date.  The designation was removed after a couple years with the new standard weight in play. This two year type was produced in Philadelphia, Carson City and San Francisco.
