Product Details:
Struck in 90% fine silver at the Denver Mint, the 1938-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar 50C is widely celebrated as the key date of the short-set era and one of the lowest-mintage circulation issues in the entire series. Designed by master sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, the obverse features Lady Liberty striding gracefully toward the dawn of a new day, wrapped in the Stars and Stripes and carrying branches of laurel and oak, with the 1938 date below and IN GOD WE TRUST to the right. The reverse displays a majestic bald eagle perched high on a mountain crag with wings unfolded, framed by a mountain pine sapling, UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, HALF DOLLAR, and the prominent 'D' mint mark near the lower left rim. Certified Gem Mint State 65 by NGC, this premier branch-mint key date exhibits luminous frosty silver luster, sharp strike definition across the skirt lines and eagle's plumage, and exceptional eye appeal.
