This coin is graded by PCGS. You will receive the pictured coin. You are Buying an 1894 Morgan Silver Dollar graded MS64 by PCGS and CAC Approved. The 1894 Morgan dollar is one of the few low-mintage Philadelphia issues of the series and the date is quite scarce at the MS64 grade level. A very nice, white original looking coin with excellent luster, somewhat unusual for the 1894 Philadelphia issue. This near-Gem is set apart from most of its peers. Central strike sharpness is above average for the issue and the coin is remarkably frosty and attractive for the grade. The lingering effects of the Panic of 1893 and the repeal of the Sherman Silver Purchase Act resulted in relatively small mintages of Morgan dollars at all U.S. Mints in 1894. The Philadelphia Mint struck only 110,00 business-strike examples that year, the second-lowest production total of the entire series.

Morgan Dollars (1878-1921) - After 1873, there was a short hiatus from U.S. dollar production. But in 1878, the Mint began to again strike silver dollars under the orders of the Bland-Allison Act. Created by Charles Morgan, the new dollar design was produced until 1904 and then again for one year in 1921. The Morgan dollar features a portrait of Lady Liberty on the obverse with a crown adorned with wheat, and cotton. The reverse offers an eagle with wings spread clutching a crop of arrows and an olive branch clutched in its talons. The coins were struck in 90% silver and are 0.7734 of a troy ounce. They are popular today with silver buff and collectors alike. In fact, they are perhaps the most collected series in all of U.S. numismatics.
