Product Details:

This is a PCGS graded coin. You will receive the coin pictured. You are purchasing an 1858 Flying Eagle Copper-Nickel Pattern, Graded PR63 by PCGS and CAC Approved. Judd-204, Pollock-248, R.5.  Light tan-rose color overall. The fields are uncommonly bright and reflective for a copper-nickel product. Just a few hairlines limit the grade. Housed in an Old Green PCGS Holder. Anthony Paquet's small flying eagle motif is paired with an ornamental shield and oak wreath reverse. Struck in copper-nickel with a plain edge.

Flying Eagle Cents (1856-1858) Designed by James B. Longacre, the Flying Eagle small cent was created as production of the large cent and half cent had become untenable. The series was short lived and was only produced for two years. The smaller diameter issue was struck in copper-nickel using 19mm planchets made of 88% copper and 12% nickel and weighed 4.67 grams. The obverse eagle hearkened to Christian Gobrecht’s early dollar “onward and upward” reverse. The iconic design is popular among cent and type collectors alike.
