Product Details
This coin is certified by PCGS and you will receive the pictured item. This is a 1844-D $2 1/2 Gold Quarter Eagle graded AU-55 by PCGS and housed in an older Green Tag PCGS Holder. Variety 5-I . Two die pairs produced a small mintage of just 17,332 pieces and a survivorship of 275-325 pieces, according to Doug Winter. A straw-gold representative with noticeable remnants of mint luster and an absence of mentionable marks. The centers show the moderate incompleteness of strike customary for the Dahlonega Mint. Dahlonega derives its name from a Cherokee word referring to the yellow color of gold.
