Liberty's portrait is in high relief on this obverse die. This is an aesthetically pleasing example with rich chocolate-brown patina that reveals a few whispers of crimson toning at certain angles. The strike is expertly centered on the obverse with sharp overall definition and the reverse is also well detailed. The wear is light and confined to the highest points of the design, the high relief portrait on the obverse displaying most of the evident rub. The 1794 (81,600 pieces produced) is always in demand as the first Half Cent of the Head Facing Right type. This is an excellent coin to add to your collection.

Liberty Cap Half Cent Facing Right (1794-1797) - Liberty Cap Half Cent Facing Right were the nation’s lowest face value coin struck by the United States and replaced 1793 Liberty Cap, facing Left. Designed by Robert Scot the coins were struck on copper planchets weighing 5.44 grams that were 23.5 mm in diameter. They feature a portrait ‘emblematic of Liberty’ as ordered by the coinage act of 1792. The image was more refined than the early likenesses with the hair of Liberty tied back with a ribbon and the bust draped in cloth. Problem free examples of this early Mint design are heavily sought after in all grade levels.
