Product Details:
This is an outstanding example of a 4 Reales coin struck during the reign of Philip II, one of Spain's most powerful and influential monarchs. Minted at the historic Segovia mint, identifiable by its unique 'aqueduct mill' mintmark, this piece offers a tangible connection to the Spanish Golden Age. The Segovia mint was renowned for its advanced coinage technology, particularly its 'ingenio' or mill, which allowed for a more consistent and higher quality strike compared to hammer-struck coinage of the time. The distinctive aqueduct mintmark serves as a testament to this technological innovation. Encapsulated in a protective coin holder, this specimen is certified by WINGS for its superior quality. Whether you are a seasoned collector of Spanish colonial coinage, a specialist in European history, or a discerning investor, this 1591-95 Segovia 4 Reales is a truly exceptional piece that deserves a place in a premier collection. Its historical resonance, combined with its outstanding state of preservation, makes it a highly desirable and increasingly scarce artifact of a bygone era.
