Proof 1892 Morgan dollars were produced from a single die pair and delivered in quarterly installments in March (620 coins), June (375 coins), September (100 coins), and December (150 coins). In A Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars, fifth edition, Q. David Bowers notes that this issue sometimes comes poorly struck; however, the present example has brilliant surfaces, devoid of bothersome marks or hairlines and all of the design features are boldly detailed! Deeply mirrored fields complement appreciable cameo contrast. The high quality within the grade is confirmed by CAC. A lovely coin for the Morgan connoisseur. Morgan Dollars (1878-1921) - After 1873, there was a short hiatus from U.S. dollar production. But in 1878, the Mint began to again strike silver dollars under the orders of the Bland-Allison Act. Created by Charles Morgan, the new dollar design was produced until 1904 and then again for one year in 1921. The Morgan dollar features a portrait of Lady Liberty on the obverse with a crown adorned with wheat, and cotton. The reverse offers an eagle with wings spread clutching a crop of arrows and an olive branch clutched in its talons. The coins were struck in 90% silver and are 0.7734 of a troy ounce. They are popular today with silver buff and collectors alike. In fact, they are perhaps the most collected series in all of U.S. numismatics.
