Product Details:
Struck in 90% fine silver at the Carson City Mint, this 1879-CC Morgan Silver Dollar $1 is a celebrated key-date variety recognized on the elite TOP-100 list as VAM-3 Capped CC. Produced when the 'CC' mint mark letters were punched over previously rusted or improperly prepared die punches, the distinct raised capping gives this historic Carson City issue its iconic appearance. Designed by George T. Morgan, the obverse features Lady Liberty facing left wearing a Phrygian cap and coronet inscribed LIBERTY, bordered by thirteen stars, E PLURIBUS UNUM, and dated 1879. The reverse displays a heraldic eagle with outstretched wings clutching an olive branch and arrows, framed by UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, In God We Trust, ONE DOLLAR, and the prominent capped 'CC' mint mark. Certified Very Fine 35 (VF35) by NGC, this desirable frontier variety exhibits strong residual hair and wing detail, honest circulation wear, and rich original antique patina.
