Product Details
This is a coin graded by PCGS and you will receive the pictured coin. You are Buying a 1928 Peace Dollar graded MS-65+ by PCGS and CAC Approved. This is a well defined piece that is sharp even on the eagle's wing with all feathers present. Each side presents a mostly white surface, with just the lightest touch of wispy attractive toning. The 1928 has the lowest mintage of any Peace dollar with only 360,649 pieces produced. As a result, it is difficult (and pricey) to locate in circulated grades also. Gems are quite rare, not only because of the absolute scarcity of the issue but also because of the softness of strike which keeps many otherwise nice coins from Gem status. This is an excellent coin to add to your collection.

Peace Dollars (1921-1935)Following WWI the U.S. agreed to sell the United Kingdom several million ounces of silver. This silver was used to back the circulating paper money and production of a new coin was authorized to replace the silver sold. Initially the Morgan series saw a brief rebirth, but the iconic dollar was soon replaced with the art deco creation of Anthony de Francisci. He won the right to redesign the denomination and his dollar known as the Peace dollar was produced until 1935. The coins bore a representation of Lady Liberty on the obverse between the motto IN GOD WE TRUST. The word LIBERTY floats above, with the date appearing beneath. The reverse had an eagle portrait perched on a rock clutching an olive branch. The word PEACE appears below.
