Product Details:
This is a ANACS graded coin and you will receive the pictured coin. You are Buying a 1924-D Saint Gaudens Double Eagle $20 graded MS 61 by ANACS in an older style holder. While the Philadelphia issue bearing this date is a common type coin, its mintmarked counterparts, such as this D-mint piece, are far more elusive and highly desirable. This example shows beaming cartwheel luster on greenish-gold, well-struck surfaces that show a scattering of the expected marks, none overly severe and are consistent with the grade. Only a handful of Gems are extant so this lovely example represents a very economical option for this issue. Although minted in sufficient numbers (3 million pieces), the vast majority of 1924-D twenties were melted during the gold recall of the 1930s. The 1924-D is one of several Roaring Twenties issues that have high mintages but are nonetheless rare. Most examples never left Treasury holdings, and were eventually melted to back the foreign exchange value of the dollar. Roger Burdette estimates in his Saint-Gaudens Double Eagles that the 1924-D has an estimated survival of 1,200 pieces.
This is an excellent coin to add to your collection.
