Liberty Seated Dime with Arrows (1853-1855) (1873-1874) The Third type in the Liberty Seated Series the Variety Placed arrows around the Date to indicate the reduction of Silver in the coin Due to the Ratio of Gold to Silver Changing at the time. The Weight was reduced from 2.67 grams to 2.49 grams. The Design was Discontinued in favor of the Previous design with the new weight the following year until 1873 when the Arrows design returned for a Fifth Type that saw a slight increase in weight from 2.49 grams to 2.5 grams.
